Welcome to our Nursery

Our Nursery School

Our Nursery School currently caters for 26 pupils aged 3 and 4.  The purpose built Nursery School opened on the school site in October 2003. The nursery is equipped with an outdoor area with enclosed sandpit, a large playroom, quiet room and  kitchen. Activities in the nursery are play-based and are carefully planned to allow the children to learn at their own pace in a fun and active way.

As a school family, in partnership with parents, we aim to provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment, where each child is valued as a unique individual.

Our Nursery Unit Aims

The staff see their work as complimentary to the love and care already experienced in the child’s home. By the time children commence attendance at a Nursery School, they have already had a variety of experiences and have developed in a number of ways. In order to utilise and build upon the learning that has taken place in the home and its immediate environment, we aim to provide our children with a rich variety of play activities and other experiences in a stimulating and challenging environment. We will focus on allowing our children to learn, at their own pace without experiencing a sense of failure.

We will seek to: -

  • provide a safe and caring environment in which our children can develop respect for themselves and others, confidence, a positive self-image and a sense of responsibility.
  • encourage the autonomy of each child (i.e. doing things for themselves)
  • develop and build on the children’s interest in the world around them.

  • provide opportunities to learn through doing.

  • provide experiences that meet our children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs at their particular stage of learning.

  • provide opportunities to discover that learning is fun.

  • provide appropriate support for children with disabilities and special learning needs.

  • develop and maintain a close partnership with parents.

  • value our children as individuals and promote their welfare.
