8 May 2008 - Boys Win North Antrim Rugby Tournament

Rugby Team Celebrate Tournament Success

On Thursday 8th of May, the Buick rugby team won the annual North Antrim Tournament and now have a day out at Ravenhill to look forward to. The boys had been training after school very hard for the last 6 weeks and their hard work and dedication paid off with a top quality performance at Eaton Park.

The first match saw the boys in action against Carniny, and after a display of free flowing rugby the boys emerged as 7-1 winners. Next up the team were in action against Gracehill, despite trailing twice the boys played with great purpose and eventually ran out 4-2 winners. As a result of these two wins the team qualified for the semi -finals where they came up against a strong Clough side, in a tight match the Buick team were on the right side of a 3-1 score line. Next up was a very physical Antrim Primary side in the final, in a very tough match 2 tries were enough to see Buick emerge as champions.

After 40 minutes of rugby on a very hot afternoon the team were exhausted but delighted with their achievements. Our coaches Mr. Finlay and Miss Marks were proud of the teams performance and are looking forward to their trip to Ravenhill.

Watch this space to see how the team gets on!!
