Education and Training Inspectorate - Follow Up Inspection Report

Buick Memorial Primary School & Nursery Unit - 'Consistently High Quality of Learning and Teaching'

As you were aware, the school was inspected in April 2012, the outcome of which required interim visits and a follow up report to monitor improvement.  I have previously informed parents that the interim visits went very well, owing to the hard work and effort put in by all staff in the school.

Our follow up inspection was scheduled for September 2014, but owing to circumstances outside our control and through no fault of the school, it did not occur until February 9th, 2015.  At the end of the inspection we were given very pleasing oral feedback, but could not publicly comment until the official written report was produced by the ETI.

This report will be available on the ETI website (www.etini.gov.uk) after Thursday 12th March 2015 (anyone having problems accessing it can contact me at school for a paper copy).

As a school we are very pleased with the report.  The comments have really delighted all staff regarding the successful improvements we have striven to make.  Some of these wonderful comments include:

‘the staff’s collegial culture and their child-centred approach to addressing the area for improvement during the follow up process’

·        ‘the consistently high quality of learning and teaching observed during the follow up process and the engagement of the children in their learning’

·        ‘the improved quality of the children’s work and the standards they attain’

·        ‘the significant improvements in the special educational needs provision.’

May I thank all staff for their hard work and professionalism in achieving the improvements highlighted in this report; may I thank the NEELB, our Board of Governors and our parents for their continued support throughout this process; and lastly, thank the most important people, our pupils, who, as always, are fantastic!

The school is determined to continue to improve and will work strenuously to ensure all our pupils’ learning and teaching is of as high a standard as possible.
